DIY Holiday Cards

The holidays are the perfect occasion to add a handmade touch to any gift!

Astrodesigns® Cardstock has a vivid array of colors that makes it easy to create cards for those special people on your holiday list. When dreaming up a handmade card design, I love to take classic icons and add my own personal flair through color choices and textures. For these two designs, I made a 3D ornament card and a pop-up Christmas tree card.

From Christmas trees to ornaments, the possibilities are endless! Handmade cards are perfect to give to special loved ones during the holidays, and even throughout the year.

Supplies:

• Astrodesigns® Cardstock, 8.5" x 11", Watercolor 15-Color Assortment
• Astrodesigns® Cardstock, White, 12" x 12", 100 Sheets
• Scissors
• Double Stick Tape or Glue
• Ruler
• Shape Punches, Ribbon (optional)
• Pens (to write in card)

To make the Christmas Tree card:

Step 1: Take 1 sheet of the Astrodesigns Cardstock in Re-Entry Red™ and fold it in half. Take a sheet of the Astrodesigns Cardstock, White, 12" x 12"™ and cut to size to create the inside liner of the card. Tape or Glue in place.

Step 2: Take 1 sheet Astrodesigns Cardstock in Terra Green™ and fold in half. Accordion fold all the way down, making sharp creases.

Step 3: Use a ruler to measure and cut 5cm, 4cm, 3cm, and 2 cm pieces.

Step 4:  Space each piece 2mm away from the center crease, from largest to smallest, down the center of the card on the left side first.

Step 5: Tape or glue the other side of the ‘branches’ to the right side of the card crease.

Step 6: Use Astrodesigns Cardstock in Solar Yellow™ and Astrodesigns Cardstock in Brown to cut out and tape/ glue a star and the tree trunk.

To make the Ornament Card:

Step 1: Take Astrodesigns Cardstock in Solar White™ and fold in half to use as your card base.

Step 2: Cut out eight 2.5-inch circles out of Astrodesigns Cardstock in Solar Yellow, Terra Green, Fireball Fuschia, and Colonial Blue™

Step 3: Use Astrodesigns Cardstock in Eclipse Black™ to cut out the ornament top and hanger. Glue to the top of the card front.

Step 4: Fold each circle in half. Center the circle slightly left of the ornament center and glue the left half of the circle onto the card. Continue to attach each left side of the circle to the piece before to create the 3D ornament and glue the last circle half to the right side of the card.

Step 5: Add a ribbon at the top of the ornament (optional).
