Terrific Teaching with Mrs. Long
Children of all ages love to craft! With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, this craft is perfect to do at home or school. Take a few minutes to discuss all the things in our lives that we are “lucky” to have. You can remind kids (and adults!) of all the amazing people and things in their lives. We’ll be making a Lucky Shamrock Chain using Astrobrights® Cardstock. The vibrant green helps make our chain POP! The goal is simply to take a few minutes to think about how lucky and blessed we all are and to create a fun St. Patrick’s Day themed craft.
Materials:
Step 1: Print out the Lucky Shamrock Template on a piece of the Astrobrights® Cardstock. We used the color Terra Green™ for our shamrock! Cut out the shamrock and set it to the side.
Step 2: Cut strips (either horizontally or vertically depending on the size you want) of the Neenah™ Bright White Cardstock and the Terra Green™ Cardstock. You can make as many strips as you wish. The more you make, the longer your chain can be. We used one sheet of each color of paper.
Step 3: Write something you are “lucky” to have on each strip of paper. These strips will become the chain.
Step 4: Using a stapler (or glue) attach your first strip of the Neenah™ Bright White Cardstock to the Shamrock. You will then loop a Terra Green™ Cardstock strip through it and staple. Continue alternating colors until you’ve added on as many “lucky” statements as you wish!
Step 5: Hang the chain up and use it as decor or a conversation piece to discuss things your child deems as “lucky”. If you’re a classroom teacher, these look amazing hanging up in the hallway or on a bulletin board!
