Craft Box Girls
I love enjoying the summer weather outdoors with my kiddos but when the rain hits, I like to have some summer camp themed projects in my back pocket!
Today we are going to turn a shoebox into a growing garden! The Astrobrights® Spectrum Cardstock pack has the perfect variety of colors for a vegetable garden and the cardstock work was a perfect sturdy option for this interactive craft project.
Materials:
Parent Tools: Craft Knife
Directions:
1. Remove the top from the shoebox and discard. Use scissors to cut out one of the long sides. This will leave three remaining sides!
2. Trace each side of the box on green cardstock. Cut out each piece and glue to the box.
3. Draw a continuous line of blades of grass the length of the shoebox on multiple sheets of green cardstock. Cut out and glue to the front of the shoebox.
4. It’s time to plant our garden. Draw and cut out different vegetables. My garden had a carrot, beat, cauliflower and a mushroom.
5. Glue a popsicle to the back of each veggie.
6. The next step is an adult job. Use a craft knife to cut slips on the box. The slits need to be wide enough for each vegetable to grow through.
7. Get creative and add more fun to your garden. Think about making more blades of grass, butterflies and even some bugs!
8. Once your garden is ready push the veggies up through the slits and watch them grow!
Happy Summer Crafting!
